Smoking Cessation Therapy

Do you want to know if acupuncture can help you to stop smoking? If so, then you can come to our site for information on smoking cessation therapy with acupuncture.

Oriental medicine, one of the ancient systems of traditional medicine, is a rare art that is very popular in Europe and the Far East. Increasing numbers of Western patients and physicians have discovered the usefulness of Chinese, Tibetan and Japanese medicine. For more than 2500 years, generations of patients and physicians have depended on acupuncture and herbal medicine to relieve the suffering of pain and disease.

One of the areas in which traditional medicine and acupuncture have proven to be helpful is in the area of smoking cessation therapy.

It is not easy for anyone to alter his psychological or physical habits. The addictive aspect of tobacco means that there is a withdrawal syndrome that people go through when they abruptly stop smoking.

Acupuncture can reduce the physical discomfort of this phase considerably. Even though acupuncture helps the withdrawal symptoms, you still have to deal with the habitual associations of your smoking with other activities, such as driving, drinking coffee, alcoholic beverages, etc. Ask for the brochure on acupuncture to help you stop smoking when you call our office.

Dr. L.B. Grotte, M.D., was the first physician in Ohio to be board certified in both acupuncture and Chinese herbology. He has studied Oriental medicine since 1972 and has practiced Oriental medicine in Cleveland for more than 27 years. Our small practice specializes in creating individualized treatment plans combining Western and Oriental methods. My own personal suggestion is for you to seek out an individual who studies one area in depth, and avoid those who try to be a "jack-of-all-trades". The road to mastery of Oriental medicine takes decades and is just as arduous as that of mastery of modern Western medicine, and requires the same level of commitment.
